The Guadalupe presents Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra

(San Antonio, Texas) Tickets are on sale for the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center’s 2011 Community Concert featuring Eddie Palmieri and his Salsa Orchestra. This momentous occasion will take place in the Plaza Guadalupe, 1327 Guadalupe St. on Saturday, August 27, 2011, 8 p.m. with world-class salsa music and dancing. Opening the concert will by Henry Brun and The Latin Playerz, an ensemble that incorporates a variety of Latin styles with Rhythm and Blues, Swing, and straight ahead Jazz.  Advanced tickets will be on sale for $15 through August 15, and $20 through the concert date.

With a music career that spans over 50 years, Eddie Palmieri is known for his charismatic energy as a bandleader of Salsa and Latin Jazz orchestras. A nine-time Grammy winner, Palmieri was born in Spanish Harlem in 1936, where he began piano studies at a very early age. At the age of 14, Palmieri formed his own band and used music as a vehicle out of the Barrio. Nearly 40 years later, Eddie Palmieri has distinguished himself as a musical maestro, fusing multiple genres and styles to create a sound all his own. With a discography that includes 36 titles, Palmieri has ensured for himself a unique musical legacy, and continues to enthrall audiences worldwide.
