The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is proud to present ARTBoard #3 on the north-facing wall of the Museo Guadalupe. In the spirit of keeping art accessible, approachable, and in the everyday life of San Antonio citizens, the Guadalupe has created art billboards that will always bring delight, energy and creative questions into the minds of all. Artist: Arturo Infante Almeida
Recipient of The San Antonio Art League and Museum’s, Ann Griffith Ash Patron Award, Arturo Infante Almeida is represented by Ruiz-Healy Art. His work was included in the exhibitions Photographic Encounters: Humanity in Nature, San Antonio, 2009 and Photographic Dialogues, San Antonio, 2010. His photograph, Barrio Baroque: Papel Picado was selected by the U.S. Department of State’s Art in Embassies (AIE) program and is part of the permanent exhibition of works by 38 American Artist in the U.S. Consulate in Mexico. His work was selected for exhibition by the City of San Antonio’s Public Art San Antonio and he is one of 42 Texas Artists selected to create original work for Paws for a Purrpose, an exhibition that will tour the State in the coming year. Arturo is the Art Specialist and Curator of the Art Collection of The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is the curator of Texas Contemporary Artist Series at UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures. Exhibitions curated by him include Infinite Horizon: Visions of Texas, an exhibit at the 14th Annual China International Photographic Art Exhibition in Lishui City, Zhezhiang Province, China.
In a body of work he calls Barrio Baroque, Arturo’s photography celebrates the exquisite beauty that abounds in culture and community. Extravagantly staged images that echo the high drama of the baroque aesthetic, his work captures the timeless poetry and history that resonates in familiar objects.
