DANCE CLASSES

SUMMER MASTER CLASSES IN DANCE

Summer Session: June 11 – 28 & July 16 – August 2, 2018 (two weeks off July 2 – 12) All classes subject to change.

Mexican Folklórico Dance Classes

Beginning students develop coordination, balance and weight shifting while learning body awareness.  Intermediate and Advanced students build strength, stamina, balance, posture, grace and discipline.  All students are introduced to different regions, costuming and music in traditional Mexican Folklorico dance; while more advanced students learn more intricate technique and choreography.

 

Folklorico: Ages 4-6

Flamenco Dance Classes

Students learn basics of flamenco dance including rhythms, footwork, and armwork. Intermediate level classes progress to more challenging technique and choreography.

*You will need to bring an old pair of non canvas tennis shoes that can be screwed onto the stilts.

 

Other Important Information

Class Attire:

Folklorico and Flamenco: Boys must have a black or white fitted t-shirt, workout pants or shorts and black Folklorico boots. Girls must have a black leotard, tights, Folklorico skirt (any color except black) and or black Flamenco skirt and black shoes. Hair MUST be in a bun.

Stilt walking: Comfortable work out clothes (pants are recommended). You will need to bring an old pair of non canvas tennis shoes that you no longer use. They will be screwed onto the stilts. High tops tennis shoes or boots are recommended for extra support. You will also need a good pair of knee pads with a plastic knee cap. Look for sturdy knee pads used for roller derby not volley ball. Please have hair pulled back away from the face. A small towel is also recommended.

GDA Rules

  1. No gum, food or drinks allowed in the studio.
  2. No parents or visitors allowed in the studio.
  3. Dancers are expected to arrive 10 minutes before their class time to prepare.
  4. When possible, please inform the instructor of any absences or tardiness that may occur.
  5. Dancers must be dressed in their proper dance attire for class or will they be asked to sit out.
  6. Each dancer is responsible for keeping the dance studio clean.
  7. Dancers are not allowed in the studio unless their instructor is present.

 

Tuition and Registration

Registration Fee: $25
Tuition: $80 for the summer (6 weeks) for 2 hour classes & $50 for the summer (6 weeks) for one hour classes.
