Artist Statement: Patricia Zamora

I feel so strongly the need to create and share stories. This is my way to honor so many interesting real life characters that have crossed my path. It is also so important to me to highlight and honor my beautiful culture. Doing this feeds and releases my creative spirit. We all have different experiences as Latinas and Latinos. The faith healer is such a prevalent figure in my life and of all the stories that my mother would share with me. It is universal in all of us. It’s the thread that ties together all Latina groups whether we are immigrants, first generation american, love our culture but speak very little Spanish, whatever our story and background may be. I wanted to find the commonalities in our culture and not the differences.

Patricia Zamora is an actress and playwright living in San Antonio, Texas. She has performed in roles from Brecht to Sondheim on stages in Austin, Corpus Christi, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley.

Patricia’s writing is strongly influenced by her mother and the stories that she still shares with her. A small town girl, Patricia grew up in Premont, Texas. Although the energy and calm of that coastal plains area did not fill her soul as a young girl she longs for it now.

Patricia is obsessed with personal development. You can often find her listening to a podcast, reading or honing her craft as an actress. She has a BA in Theater from St. Edward’s University and a masters degree from the University of Texas Pan American.

2019 marks her fifth year as a company member of Burras Finas Productions playing the role of Sylvia in the holiday hit Las Nuevas Tamaleras. You can also hear Patricia in the recently released Audible Parade Productions web series Triple Six . She looks forward to sharing the message of faith and healing from Cuaranderas and Chocolate with many more audiences.
