Dia de los Muertos 2013
Thanks to everyone for joining us in our Dia de los Muertos community celebration! Taking place the same day as the catholic holiday of All Saints’ Day, this tradition mixes European and Mesoamerican beliefs resulting in a powerful experience that not only remembers and honors those who have passed away, but also celebrates life.
Activities for Saturday, November 2, 2013:
– Fun Workshops: Papel picado with artist Kathleen Trenchard, calavera face and sugar skull painting
– Community Altars by Bridging Lives-Gift of Sight Altar by SAI Bank, Texas Popular Culture Center, Community members Maricela Olguin, Marlene Pita and familia, San Anto Cultural Arts and GCAC
– Music by DJ Despeinada
– Pan de muerto and hot chocolate
Special traditional dances performed by our very own Guadalupe Dance Company and Guadalupe Dance Academy.
