Ancient China: Art, Inventions, Genius
4th grade teacher, Margaret Gomez, paired up with mixed-media artist, Lindsay Schultz, on a social studies unit that taught Ancient Chinese innovations through creation and research. Students made clay sculptures, paper scrolls, used stencils as moveable type, and binded their scrolls. They used high order thinking skills of analysis, application, evaluation, and creation when they wrote a 3-5 page creative essay on their assigned topic. Their culminating event was a tea ceremony in which students presented their scrolls and sculptures to their peers.
