Enfrascada by Tanya Saracho
April 28, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center presents the regional premier production of Enfrascada, a contemporary comedy written by nationally recognized playwright and screenwriter Tanya Saracho whose recent work includes episodes of How To Get Away With Murder, Devious Maids, HBO’s Girls and Looking, and the new play FADE, which recently had its world premier at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and will be produced off-Broadway at Primary Stages.
Enfrascada tells the story of Alicia, a tightly wound woman, acculturated Latina curator who has her world turned upside down by a terrible breakup. She and her friends turn to a series of folk magic practicing señoras in search of that one thing that will put it all back the way it used to be. This smart, contemporary comedy about modern day Latinas using a little old school santería to handle heartbreak is performed in English with a sprinkle of Spanish.
“ As a fresh, funny, and honest appraisal of the speed bumps that a busted heart throws in the way of women’s friendships, it’s a winning night out …” – Chicago Tribune
Featuring live music and a talented cast of locally based actors, Enfrascada is sure to be a hit with adult audiences of all ages.
* Strong Language: May be inappropriate for younger audiences.
