Since 1984, The Guadalupe Theater has been an epicenter for the creation and presentation of contemporary Teatro Chicano and Latino Theatre. Numerous world premieres, festivals, and local, regional, and national productions have been staged in our historic 300 seat theater. We are proud to carry on the work of the talented and dedicated artists who laid the path for us to follow. The Guadalupe is committed to developing a world class Theatre program that gives voice to the Latino, Chicano, and Native American experience while providing a platform for new generations of artists to practice and develop their craft.

Broken Arrows

Joaquin is a man without a country wanted dead by the Rangers, and Pancho Villa’s soldiers. To clear his name he calls on a few friends that have been wronged, and seek their own brand of justice.  Even Broken Arrows have sharp edges.

Adelita

Written and Directed by Mono Riojas Aguilar

The sequel to Chato’s Bridge, which was staged at the Guadalupe this last spring, follows Dolores DeLeon a year after the deaths of the two men who came to her rescue when she was a child. She can’t escape her past, for a reporter’s investigation  and her efforts to protect the son of one of her heroes  threatens to derail her effort to get elected to Congress.

 

Two in Hand

Las Cochinas Christmas

About the Teatro SAlon Showcase:  The Guadalupe presents New Teatro by SA Playwrights and Teatristas !! Local playwrights, performers and ensembles take the Guadalupe stage and present an evening of staged readings and workshop performances of new works. From drama and comedy to experimental and spoken word, this Teatro SAlon will showcase both emerging talent and veterans of the San Antonio Teatro scene. This program is open to participants of all backgrounds and experience levels while placing an emphasis on new works that explore, celebrate, challenge, and further define the Latino, Chican@, and Native American experience.
