MASK: Feminist activist Genevieve Rodriguez, plastic surgeon Dr. John Ayala, and liquor distiller James Hughes discuss their views on the pervasive masks we wear.

Genevieve Rodriguez is a community organizer, who has worked as part of the liberation movement as a union organizer, artist/musician, and buena gente at the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center. She currently and will always be part of the Esperanza 'buena gente' community to focus on centering women, queer women, and women of color. And to continue learning from the community about how to progress together to fight social, economical, and environmental injustice.

 

Dr. John Ayala received his Bachelor of Art degree from the University of Texas in Austin. He later attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas where he received his medical degree. Dr. Ayala completed a five-year residency in general surgery at Texas Tech University in El Paso, Texas before beginning his plastic surgery training. He completed his training in plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ayala returned to San Antonio, Texas and in 1999 began his private practice, which is limited to cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Ayala is a member of many prestigious professional societies at the local, state and national levels. He maintains staff privileges at many of the area's local hospitals.
