Consider booking a performance or workshop led by the Guadalupe Dance Company! Through

dance, the Guadalupe Dance Company teaches:

We offer a variety of programs for all ages.  Choose between a performance or workshop:

All workshops can be booked in a series of sessions in order for students to learn an entire

choreography that can then be presented for any special school function. The workshops can be

VIVA MI CULTURA! (interactive performance)

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is proud to offer “Viva Mi Cultura”, a dance demonstration

designed for elementary, middle and high school students.  The hour-long presentation features the

Guadalupe Dance Company performing traditional dances, costumes and music of various states of

Mexico. This performance has an interactive component and ends with a question and answer-led

discussion.

 

 

ALMA FLAMENCO SHOWCASE! (interactive performance)

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center presents “Alma Flamenco”, a dance demonstration designed for

elementary, middle and high school students.  The hour-long presentation features the Guadalupe

Dance Company performing traditional dances, costumes and music of Spain.  This performance

has an interactive component and ends with a question and answer-led discussion.

 

FLAMENCO FUN (workshop)

Stomp your feet while learning the basics of zapateado (footwork) and braceo (arm work) in this

Flamenco dance workshop.  Students will learn to use various muscle groups while engaging the

brain to coordinate arms and footwork. All workshops are tailored for students from grades 1 – 12 as

well as designed specifically for teachers to incorporate into their classes.

 

SHAKE IT UP SALSA DANCE (workshop)

Step right, left and one, two, three!  Students will learn salsa dance moves and the basics of partner

dance in this fun, high-energy workshop.  The result will be strengthening muscles and building

endurance. All workshops are tailored for students from grades 1 – 12 as well as designed

specifically for teachers to incorporate into their classes.


 

IT’S A FIESTA! (workshop)

Ready to learn el Jarabe Tapatio aka the Mexican hat dance? This popular dance is from the

beautiful state of Jalisco, Mexico and is always a part of a fiesta or celebration. Students will learn

coordination and memorization through traditional dance steps.  All workshops are tailored for

students from grades 1 – 12 as well as designed specifically for teachers to incorporate into their

classes.

 

CINCO DE MAYO DANCES (workshop)

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla, while learning a

valuable history lesson through the traditional dances of the state of Puebla, Mexico. Students will

learn coordination and memorization skills through traditional dance steps.  All workshops are

tailored for students from grades 1 – 12 as well as designed specifically for teachers to incorporate

into their classes.

 

CELEBATE HISPANIC HERITAGE (workshop)

Learn traditional dances of Mexico in celebration of Hispanic Heritage celebrated throughout the

months of September and October. Students will learn coordination and memorization skills through

traditional dance steps. All workshops are tailored for students from grades 1 – 12 as well as

designed specifically for teachers to incorporate into their classes.

 

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS CELEBRATION (workshop)

Learn the historical significance of Día de los muertos while learning dances that celebrate this

popular tradition of Mexico.  Students will learn coordination and memorization skills through

traditional dance steps.  All workshops are tailored for students from grades 1 – 12 as well as

designed specifically for teachers to incorporate into their classes.

 

TRADITIONAL AZTEC OR MATLACHINES DANCE (workshop)

Learn the dances of the ancient Aztecas or the traditional Matlachines dance as an expression of the

cultural spirit of the native people of Mexico.  Students will learn a combination of steps to build

coordination and stamina.  All workshops are tailored for students from grades 1 – 12 as well as

designed specifically for teachers to incorporate into their classes.
