Inter-American Bookfair & Literary Festival


Publishers from the United States and Latin America display their books and participate in discussions of current issues in multicultural publishing. The chief attraction at the Bookfair is the appearance of writers of international importance.

Local universities, colleges and high schools participate in this festival by hosting readings and book-signing opportunities.

Among the major writers who have been featured at the Bookfair are Isabel Allende, Julia Alvarez, Maya Angelou, Ana Castillo, Sandra Cisneros, Carlos Fuentes, Donald Hall, Joy Harjo, Oscar Hijuelos, Ed Hirsch, Maxine Hong Kingston, Larry McMurty, Elena Poniatowska, Ishmael Reed, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Alice Walker.
