For the July 18th workshop, artist Andrea V. Rivas will lead the class on a painting a picturesque Southwestern window with cactus scene. Rivas is a Honduran-American artist, born 1992, based in San Antonio, TX. She graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting at Texas State University, San Marcos, TX in 2015. Her work as a muralist, zine-ster, illustrator, painter and co-creator of Dos Gatas Podcast has been showcased throughout South and Central Texas. Rivas engages her Latinx culture through images that depict memories, dreams, life events, emotions, loved ones and the struggle to remain connected with her Central American roots in the social context of the United States. Her organic, faceless figures invite the viewer to project their own life experiences and emotions onto the imagery.
