Tejano Conjunto Poster Contest
Overall Winner: $1,000.00 and the selection becomes the official poster commemorating the 32nd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio 2013. Top Selection in each category $100.00; Honorable Mention in each category: $50.00 Categories: 1) Middle School, 2) High School 3) College 4) Open
$15 entry fee for each artist in the College and Open categories.
Fee does not apply to Middle School and High School entries.
More than one entry may be submitted.
Payments can be paid online or brought to the Guadalupe Main office. Checks should be made payable to the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
Conjunto Music – Traditional music born in South Texas whose main instruments include the button accordion, bajo sexto, bass and drums. All the instruments do not need to be represented in the artwork but keep in mind that we are looking for a colorful, creative interpretation of conjunto music.
Required file formats include: JPEG at 72dpi (All mediums are acceptable but the submitted format must be in JPEG).
The final printed poster will be 22 inches x 28 inches;
The poster must include the words Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio 2013;
The poster must be original, creative, innovative and unique;
The poster must be the submitting Entrant’s original, previously unpublished work and not contain any third party copyrighted material (including images and wording) unless the Entrant has written permission to use such copyrighted material.
Do not sign the artwork, as this is not conducive to impartial judging.
All entries must be accompanied by the completed online official entry form found at www.guadlupeculturalarts.org. The previous year’s winner must skip a year before entering the contest again. In other words, no one can win two years in a row.
NEED HELP PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR WORK?
We will photograph your poster! If you do not have access to photography equipment or a computer, or just need help we will hold a photo session by reservation only on Thursday, February 7, 4-7pm. Please note: This session is by reservation only. If you would like to attend, please call the main office at 210.271.3151 to reserve your space. When you arrive you will be asked to fill out an official entry form and pay the entry fee if it applies to your entry category.
All artwork must be submitted by Friday, February 15, 2013 to the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, 1300 Guadalupe St., San Antonio, TX 78207 by 5:00 pm.
Artwork will be judged by a panel of the city’s top artists and curators. Winners will be notified by March 15, 2013.
The cash awards will be presented to the winning artists at the 32nd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio 2013 Opening Night Ceremonies on Friday, May 17, at Rosedale Park.
Submitting a poster to this contest serves as an agreement with the rules and guidelines stated herein. The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center will retain ownership of the overall winning poster and image and assumes the right to reproduce the winning poster for any purpose it deems fit including any and all publicity relating to the Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio.
