The Teen Arts Puentes Project Summer Arts Intensive 2011

The Teen Arts Puentes Project’s is a multimedia arts and activism program for San Antonio youth ages 13-17. The Teen Arts Puentes project aims to use the arts to nurture the growth of adolescents in a positive environment where they can build individual talents, develop social awareness, and attain critical life skills. WE ALSO AIM TO HAVE LOTS OF FUN IN THE PROCESS!

Members take workshops in theater, visual art, poetry, and film/video, with projects and events focused on fostering healthy personal relationships, community engagement, and self-reliance.

The Teen Arts Puentes Project is run by professional artists and by THE TEENS THEMSELVES. The Teen Arts Puentes Project is committed to empowering the teens in the program by giving them the responsibility of helping to run the program. Members create original work about the things they want to talk about. They write and direct and star in all the performances and films. The Teen Arts Puentes Project believes in a democratic and collaborative approach to art, where all voices are respected.

Each session will culminate in a performance/exhibition. Summer program ends with a city wide tour of their show.

IMPORTANT: Everyone interested in participating in the Teen Arts Puentes Project Summer Arts Intenstive must fill out and return an application!

APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE GCAC OFFICES OR ONLINE AT THE GCAC WEBSITE. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION EARLY. SPACE IN THE PROGRAM IS LIMITED.
