Performing Arts Series
The
Performing Arts Series was created in an effort to promote Latino
arts and artists on a national scale. Through this series of
performances,
the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center has become one of the most
important venues for the presentation of Chicano/Latino performing
arts. Over the last 10 years the Performing Arts Series has hosted
artists such as Mercedes Sosa, Ruben Blades, Los Lobos, El Vez,
El Gran Combo, Maria Elena Gaitan, and Lupe Ontiveros, to name
just a few. Performing
Arts Series annual events include Febrero Loco, a night of Latina
comedy featuring comedians from across the nation; Valentine's
Day Oldies Dance, an evening of rhythm and blues commemorating
Valentine's Day; Holiday Horns, a holiday tradition featuring
the best in local and regional saxophonists who get together to
perform holiday and jazz favorites. The Performing Arts Series
features other national and international invited artists throughout
the year. |
