24 th Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival
May 4 –7, 2005

Band Application Process

As a tribute to a music that had its documented beginnings over seven decades ago, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts center initiated the Tejano Conjunto Festival in 1982. Next year's event is scheduled to take place on May 4-7, 2005 at Rosedale Park. This four-day festival will include not only established legends of Conjunto music, but also new up-and-coming bands. This blend of generations can only strengthen the diversity of the audience and encourage a stronger base of listeners.

Qualifications:

ALL BANDS:
All Band Application Forms submitted for consideration must be filled out in its entirety, including the required attachments listed on the form and received by the deadline. In order to qualify for consideration you must be strictly a Conjunto band .

Battle of the Bands-NEW BANDS ONLY:
To qualify for consideration for a Battle of the Bands performance, the band must be less than 3 years in existence (first public performance) by the beginning of next year's Festival, May 4, 2005. All qualifying bands must be willing to perform at no cost and will compete for prizes.

Application Process:

All Band Application Forms must be received by Monday, November 15, 2004. Through the selection process, the Guadalupe will be considering the following criteria:

  • Budget Consideration - Fee for a 1 hour 15 minute performance (If you are contributing your time, please indicate the fee as “not applicable”)
  • Diversity of band line-up to include established and new bands
  • Radio play and band exposure

These criteria will ALL be considered equally as the roster of bands is compiled. All required attachments (CD/Tape, Band Photo, Band Description) must also be included with the Band Application Form. The Guadalupe will be contacting all confirmed bands by no later than Tuesday, November 30, 2004. We look forward to receiving your submission and are honored by your dedication to this living art!
